2012 Universe Weekend

INTRODUCTION, QUALIFICATIONS, ENTRY APPLICATION & JUDGING CRITERIA

Model America Championships is for attractive women and men from around the world. Contestants must have stunning looks, an athletic body and know how to present themselves in a sexy and marketable manner for the judging panel and live & television audience. Contestants must be in good mental & physical health and do not need any stage, runway, photo, video, commercial or any other modeling experience. There are no prescribed height and/or weight limitations.

There are four divisions depending upon gender and age, as follows:

Open Women (20+ Years of Age)
Open Men (20+ Years of Age)
Teenage Girls (16 – 19 Years of Age)
Teenage Boys (16 – 19 Years of Age)

All contestants will be required to perform a runway style presentation in all 3 of the following Competition Rounds.

Sportswear - Active sports apparel appropriate for athletics; Theme selection welcome.
Swimsuit - Women in two piece style and heels; Men in one color suit (no patterns or logos) and bare feet.
Clubwear - Night and social lifestyle.

The judging criteria will be scored upon the following considerations:

Physical Appearance - Body shape, complexion, face, hair and smile 40%
Presence & Presentation - Poise, posture and presentation 40%
Apparel - Coordination, fit and proportion 20%

Contestants must submit a Model Application and include (1) entry form, (2) swimsuit or sportswear photograph and (3) $150 entry fee ($175 after April 30; $200 after May 31; $225 after June 12). Photos do not need to be professional [home snapshots are acceptable] and should be submitted to myphoto@fitnessuniverse.com. Please state your (1) name, (2) state or country of residence and (3) competition division.

JUDGES

The Official Judging Panel will consist of recognized and respected professionals from talent, commercial, modeling and sports agencies and respected entertainment executives, apparel designers, choreographers will serve. Judges will represent the Hollywood, New York, Miami Beach, London, Paris and/or Milan markets. To help prevent judging bias and contestant influence, a complete list of judges will not be announced before June 1.

MEDIA & PUBLICITY

Each year, sports, fashion, commercial and modeling photographers and fashion, consumer, sport and other magazines from the US and around the world attend the Model Universe Championships seeking new talent for commercial, editorial, promotion and other campaigns and features. Also, highlights are featured on ESPN International and other sports television networks. Contestant photo sessions may be selected by each media representative but cleared through Model America management so as not to conflict with event schedules and contestant obligations. All Model America contestants will be part of a poolside and beach media sessions which will be included in international television, magazine and internet promotions.
